After taking a cake decorating class in the early 90’s, Sue Johansen had a realization:

The best way to care for her community and spread her

ineffable joy was through quality, homemade desserts.

So in 1994 she took a leap and opened the first Wild Flour storefront in Cleveland’s historic Old Arcade. Through the years we’ve remained passionate about baking custom goods as personal and unique as your story.

Now located in Rocky River, we have established ourselves as a forerunner in creativity, artistry, and originality. When you work with us, you get decades of experience and a team of artists who will turn your dreams into a sweet reality. Celebrate your journey and your milestones with a handmade Wild Flour creation.

Meet The Team

FOUNDER

Sue and date nut cake have three things in common: sugar, spice, everything nice. With an abundance of ornamental eye wear and a hoard of airline miles, she exists somewhere between a mere mortal and mythic legend. If you’re lucky enough to spend an afternoon with her, you’ll get a few rounds of ‘Sue Trivia’ and an armful of gifts you didn’t even know you needed.

  • Emily Tingler

    since 2006
    MANAGER/WEDDING DECORATOR
It’s a truth universally acknowledged that it’s impossible to frown around Emily. She has an infectious warmth that makes you feel welcome and a laugh that bubbles over. The good news is there’s a trick to making her a friend for life—flourless chocolate cake.

  • Scott Facio

    since 2010
    CAKE BAKER
Legend has it that if you walk past Wild Flour after dark, there’s a sweet sound that drifts out along with the enticing smell of baked goodies. The Night Baker slips between the shadows, strumming his guitar, and they say he can only be lured out with the promise of peanut butter ice cream.

  • Casey Baughman

    since 2020
    WEDDING COORDINATOR
Casey has two passions in life: the culinary arts and her dog Tito. She is a queen of multitasking who will run circles around you while she crosses tasks off her never-ending to-do list. Then, with a radiant smile, she’ll ask you to play her newest board game and tell you where to find the best cheesecake in every major US city.

  • Jessica Navis

    since 2021
    CAKE DECORATOR
If ever there existed a perfect balance of pensive and silly, it would be Jessica. Intice her with some creme brulee and she’ll chat for hours, with equal interest, about psychology case studies and instagram memes. Whether she’s decorating cakes, making large-scale Halloween decorations, or photographing a wedding, Jessica creates beauty and art in all that she does.

  • Lindsey Lawless

    since 2021
    HEAD PASTRY CHEF
Lindsey is as gifted and versatile as the creme anglaise she shapes into a dozen different pastries. You may find her on a barefoot walk through the woods, gathering ingredients for a tincture; you may find her in an overstuffed leather chair, swirling a glass of Woodford Reserve; or you could find her covered in confectioners’ sugar, directing a symphony of mixers and ovens.

  • Melissa Munthe

    since 2022
    PASTRY CHEF
Being around Melissa is soothing and refreshing, like a breath of fresh air or an ice cream cone on a hot summer’s day. She may come off as quiet, but in reality she just reserves her best jokes and top-notch advice for those closest to her. And those who know her really well may be lucky enough to experience one of her unforgettable, adventure-packed vacations.

  • Cameron Thompson

    since 2023
    CAKE FILLER
At Wild Flour, we say if you want a job done right—call Cameron. She is meticulous and precise and won’t stop until it’s near-perfection. When she’s not saving the day, she may just whip you up the most impeccable chocolate fudge cake and share the best reads off her bookshelf.

  • Nora Merecicky

    since 2024
    CUSTOMER SERVICE/CAKE DECORATOR
There is a well of knowledge known as Nora. Sometimes the knowledge is an obscure reference to a specific hiking trail on some Norwegian ridge you can’t pronounce. Sometimes it’s a Hey Arnold quote. But either way, each word out of her mouth is a perfectly crafted addition to the conversation you didn’t know you needed. ProTip: If you’re looking to learn some new fun facts, lure her in with a couple cream cheese brownies.

  • Jessica Zbin

    since 2024
    CAKE DECORATOR
Somewhere in between Barbie and Snow White is where you’ll find the sweetest, sparkliest cake decorator around. Jessica’s kind, mochi-soft soul is probably what makes her an animal whisperer–one day it’s her adorable pair of retrievers, the next is her fluffball bunnies, then throw in some random otters. Basically every living creature is lowkey obsessed with her. And she does it all while seeming to have gotten dressed in the Barbie dreamhouse closet.

  • Emily LoBue

    since 2024
    CAKE ICER
Never has the word ‘exuberant’ felt more personified than it does in Emily. She doesn’t do anything halfway, instead she’s always 110% committed like a lowkey sociopath biting into their ice cream teeth first. Whether it’s perfecting the smoothest icing coat or a gravity-defying circus trick, they’re always diligently working to improve. But don’t let the drive fool you–they’re a clown to the core, sporting a sincere smile and some really sick striped pants.

  • Madeline Byers

    since 2024
    PASTRY CHEF
Somehow, being around Madeline is like hanging out with an old friend–even if you’ve just met her. Her warmth and laughter will crack through to your heart like a spoon against a crème brûlée. She may keep her inner circle tight, but if you’re lucky to be a close friend (like Monday-margaritas-and-booktok-gossip kind of close) you’ve scored a fiercely loyal friend for life.
